This second supplement to Process Economics Program Report No. 20 concerns both graft resins of acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene (ASS), and copolymer resins of styrene and acrylonitrile SAN or ANS, depending on the AN content). It reviews new developments in the technology of manufacturing ABS resins as well as SAN (or ANS) resins. Also reviewed are additives to ABS resins and alloys of ABS resins.
Economics are presented for the manufacture of ABS (or
ABS-type) resins by emulsion, mass-suspension, emulsion-mass, and solution polymerization,
and for the manufacture of SAN (or ANS) resins by emulsion, suspension, and
mass polymerization.
