This report presents the economics and process designs for the manufacture of four aprotic solvents:
- N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone
- N,N-dimethylformamide
- N,N-dimethylacetamide
- dimethyl sulfoxide.
Each solvent has numerous uses; however, the main applications are in the oil refining industry and as solvents in plastics and fiber production.
Our report includes a review of the patent literature related to the four solvents. Additionally, we provide an overview of the industry status and the chemistry related to each of the manufacturing processes.
