Process Economics Program Report 24A2
Published: Dec-76
This report concerns the production of acetaldehyde by ethylene oxidation based on the Hoechst-Wacker one-step and two-step procedures described in patents and publications.
A brief review of the production of acetaldehyde by other processes is also included. The first PEP report (No. 24) on the same subject was issued in April 1967, and an interim report (No. 24Al) was issued in May 1975. Since issuance of the interim report, additional nonconfidential
process information has become available from Friedrich Uhde GmbH, an engineering and construction affiliate of Hoechst AG, and from other publications. Accordingly, the interim report has been revised and superseded by the present report.
In addition to Friedrich Uhde, the following companies furnished some of the information required in the study:
- Chicago Bridge & Iron (storage spheres
- Ingersoll-Band (compressor)
- Pfaudler (glass-lined tanks)
- Pacific Pumps Division, Dresser Industries (Hastelloy@
Alloy Bpumps ) l
