Borealis’ Borstar process can be used to produce specialty and commodity grades of polyethylene and polypropylene. The polymerization process consists of a loop reactor in series with a gas-phase fluidized bed reactor. For polyethylene production, the presence of two reactors produces bimodal products with tailored molecular weight distribution and comonomer distribution.
