Access Intelligence Taps John Pearson to Lead Growing Chemical Division

ROCKVILLE, MD. July 7—Access Intelligence, a premier business-to-business media and information company, announced today that John Pearson has been appointed president of the rapidly growing Chemical Division, an expanded role that includes oversight of the entire portfolio of global chemical business publications, conferences and consulting and data services.

Pearson, who joined Access Intelligence in early 2004 as CEO of the newly acquired SRI Consulting division, assumes responsibility for Chemical Week, Chemical Engineering, and the Chemical Business Media Conference Group. The management change, announced by Access Intelligence CEO Don Pazour, effectively brings together the leading global news organization in the chemical industry with SRIC, the world’s leading business research service for the international chemical industry.

“In just under two years, John and his team at SRIC have done a tremendous job refocusing, restructuring and bringing a new marketing focus to those products,” says Pazour. “Together with the magazine, conference, and e-media management team, John will focus on continuing the progress made over the past year on these products while developing cross-group opportunities.”

Access Intelligence’s Chemical Division is enjoying strong marketplace and revenue growth. SRIC, which for nearly 60 years has provided the chemical community in-depth supply/demand data, analysis and forecasts, has achieved a nearly 10% increase in annualized revenue. At 20,000 weekly subscribers, Chemical Week, led by publisher Lyn Tattum, has the largest circulation of any non-association chemical news magazine. Chemical Engineering, under the leadership of publisher Nella Veldran and celebrating more than 100 years of publication, has a circulation of 59,000 and is the only global magazine covering the Chemical Process Industry sector.

“Our vision is to be the information provider of choice to the world’s chemical and related industries,” says Pearson, who will split his time between the Menlo Park, Calif., headquarters of SRIC and the New York offices of Chemical Business Media. Pearson is a recognized business-to-business publishing executive who in his nearly 30-year career has launched and grown the portfolios at major publishing houses including CMP and Miller Freeman.

Among the collaborative efforts already underway is a joint SRIC-Chemical Week conference in the Middle East in early 2006.
