WP Report Caprolactam This World Petrochemical (WP) report on Caprolactam contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five and ten year projections.  The complete report including the analyses and supply/demand tables contains approximately 130 pages.  There is also a table showing all global producers, their locations, and capacities (current, historical and future) to produce Caprolactam, as well as capacities for derivative products. Published January 2008                                                      WP Home   |    View Report   |     Purchase     |    View Sample Report  Abstract Global production and consumption of caprolactam in 2007 was approximately 4.1 million metric tons.  Global capacity utilization was 93% in 2007; this was an increase from 2006 due to consumption increasing faster than capacity from 2006 to 2007.  Global caprolactam consumption is estimated to have increased by 5.4% in 2007, and is expected to increase an average of 3.9% per year from 2007 to 2012, declining to 1.6% per year from 2012 to 2017.  Average global utilization rates will remain in the high-80s to low-90s range in the forecast period. Almost all caprolactam is used for nylon 6 production; of this, 59% is used for nylon 6 fibers and 41% is used for nylon 6 plastics/chips.
