Abstract
Global production and consumption of cyclohexane in 2007 was approximately 5.6 million metric tons. Global capacity utilization was 82.5% in 2007; this was essentially unchanged from 2006. Global cyclohexane consumption is estimated to have increased by almost 4% in 2007, and is expected to increase by 3.3% per year from 2007 to 2012, declining to 1.4% per year from 2012 to 2017. Average global utilization rates are expected to gradually increase from the low-80s range to the high-80s during the forecast period.
Caprolactam accounted for about 56% of global cyclohexane consumption in 2007, followed by adipic acid with 28%, and cyclohexanone with 10% of total consumption.
