WP Report Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) This World Petrochemical (WP) report on EDC contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five and ten year projections.  The complete report including the analyses and supply/demand tables contains approximately 160 pages.  There is also a table showing all global producers, their locations, and capacities (current, historical and future) to produce EDC, as well as capacities for derivative products. Published January 2008                                                      WP Home   |     View Report      |     Purchase    |    View Sample Report  Abstract Global production and consumption of EDC in 2007 was approximately 37 million metric tons.  Global capacity utilization was about 78% in 2007; this was a slight decline from 2006 due to a slight decline in total consumption of almost 1% from 2006.  Global EDC consumption is expected to increase by 4.1% per year from 2007 to 2012, declining to 2.7% per year from 2012 to 2017.  Average global utilization rates are expected to gradually increase throughout the forecast period due to faster consumption growth than capacity growth. Over 95% of EDC is consumed in the production of vinyl chloride monomer for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin production.  Other very small uses for EDC include chlorinated solvents, ethyleneamines, and vinylidene chloride.
