WP Report Diphenylmethane Diisocyanate (MDI) This World Petrochemical (WP) report on MDI contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five and ten year projections.  The complete report including the analyses and supply/demand tables contains approximately 110 pages.  There is also a table showing all global producers, their locations, and capacities (current, historical and future) to produce MDI, as well as capacities for derivative products. Global capacity utilization was 84% in 2008, a considerable decline from 2007 due to a larger increase in capacity than consumption. MDI consumption is estimated to have increased by 1.2% in 2008, and is expected to average growth of around 6% per year from 2008 to 2013, slowing to 4.3% per year from 2013 to 2018. Average global utilization rates are expected to drop below 80% in 2009, increasing gradually thereafter, and could reach the 90s range by 2018. Polyurethane resins make up approximately 80% of total MDI consumption.
