Propylene
This World Petrochemical (WP) report on Propylene contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five and ten year projections; the production and consumption analysis is separated out between refinery, chemical, and polymer grades. The complete report including the analyses and supply/demand tables contains approximately 290 pages. There is also a table showing all global producers, their locations, and capacities (current, historical and future) to produce Propylene as well as capacities for derivative products.

Abstract
Global production and consumption of propylene in 2007 was approximately 73.5 million metric tons. Global capacity utilization was 87.5% in 2007. Global propylene consumption is estimated to have increased by almost 4% in 2007, and is expected to increase on average by 4.4% per year from 2007 to 2012, declining to 3.8% per year from 2012 to 2017. Average global utilization rates are expected to decline to the low-80s range by 2010, gradually increasing afterward.
In the analysis, of the total 2007 propylene consumption, refinery grade made up 10%, chemical grade made up 26% and polymer grade 64%. Cumene and isopropyl alcohol make up most of the refinery grade propylene consumption; (C3) oxo alcohols, propylene oxide, acrylic acid and acrylonitrile make up most of the chemical grade propylene consumption; and polypropylene makes up almost 97% of polymer grade propylene consumption.
The following pie charts show world consumption of refinery and chemical grade propylene by end use:
