Global capacity utilization was 78.2% in 2007; this was a slight increase from 2006 due to a larger increase in consumption than capacity. Global SBR & related SB polymers consumption is estimated to have increased by 3.7% in 2007, and is expected to increase by 3.3% per year from 2007 to 2012, declining to 2.7% per year from 2012 to 2017. Average global utilization rates are expected to gradually increase to the mid to high-80s range by the end of the forecast period. SBR solid accounted for almost 50% of global SBR & related SB polymers consumption in 2007, followed by SB latex with 27% of total consumption and styrenic copolymers with 19%.  The end use applications for each category are discussed in detail in the analysis.      The following pie chart shows world consumption of SBR & related SB polymers by product category:
