SBR and Related SB Polymers

This World Petrochemical (WP) report on SBR and Related SB Polymers contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five and ten year projections; production, consumption and trade are estimated for SB Latex, SBR Latex, SBR Solid and styrenic copolymers separately in the analysis.  The complete report including the analyses and supply/demand tables contains approximately 180 pages.  There is also a table showing all global producers, their locations, and capacities (current, historical and future) to produce SBR and Related SB Polymers as well as capacities for derivative products.

Abstract

Global production and consumption of SBR & related SB polymers in 2007 was almost 9.0 million metric tons. Global capacity utilization was 78.2% in 2007; this was a slight increase from 2006 due to a larger increase in consumption than capacity. Global SBR & related SB polymers consumption is estimated to have increased by 3.7% in 2007, and is expected to increase by 3.3% per year from 2007 to 2012, declining to 2.7% per year from 2012 to 2017. Average global utilization rates are expected to gradually increase to the mid to high-80s range by the end of the forecast period.

SBR solid accounted for almost 50% of global SBR & related SB polymers consumption in 2007, followed by SB latex with 27% of total consumption and styrenic copolymers with 19%.  The end use applications for each category are discussed in detail in the analysis.
