WP Report Urea-Formaldehyde (UF) Resins This World Petrochemical (WP) report on UF Resins contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five and ten year projections. Published January 2008                                                      WP Home   |     View Report     |    Purchase    |    View Sample Report  Abstract Global production and consumption of UF resins in 2007 was approximately 11 million metric tons.  Global capacity utilization was 67.4% in 2007; this was a slight increase from 2006.  Global UF resins consumption is estimated to have increased by 5.1% in 2007, and is expected to increase on average by 4.0% per year from 2007 to 2012, declining to 2.3% per year from 2012 to 2017.  Average global utilization rates are expected to gradually increase throughout the forecast period. Fibrous and granular wood applications accounted for almost 70% of global UF resins consumption in 2007, followed by plywood with 18% of total consumption.  Other applications for UF resins include molding compounds.   The following pie chart shows world consumption of UF resins by end use:
